Despite the scorching hot middle eastern summer, my family and I decided to have the perfect Eid getaway. We chose to stay in a hidden paradise in the entrance of Ras Al Khaimah, The Cove Rotana Resort. We had an over night stay in the resort which occupies a prime waterfront location in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
We arrived the resort at around 2:00 pm, just in time for the hotel’s check in time. In front of the main lobby, we were greeted by very accommodating buggy drivers who helped us transfer our bags from the car to the buggy car. The place was basically fully booked for the holidays and the staffs were really busy attending to all the needs of all the quests who are checking out and also those who just arrived. We managed to reserve the Classic twin bed room for the night, instead of the villa with private mini swimming pool which I was really planning to get. The buggy driver/concierge was very lively and was an accomodating tour guide, pointing all the important amenities of the resort as we pass by. I have been to many hotels and resorts both for business and pleasure, but I would say The Cove Rotana was quite a delightful treat to the eyes.
The resort is a sprawling piece of magnificent architecture that would take its guest to the uniqueness of the Arabian culture. The accommodation is scattered enough to give privacy to all its guests. We reached our room after about 3 minutes of buggy ride, I actually enjoyed the tour and I was not minding the summer heat. The front facade of our room was a sight to behold! In front is a narrow brick tiled pavement that connects all the quests to most of the amenities of the resort. The infinity pool is just across our room and I can’t help but hurry inside our room to get ready for swimming.
The infinity pool in front of our room veranda was so inviting but we opted not to challenge the sun and went out swimming around 6:00 pm, just before sunset so we can have more fun. Our room was very spacious and well kept. The air condition was was a great relief from the unbearable heat outside.
All the rooms are furnished with cable TV and private balconies or verandas. The luxury guest villas have a private garden with a perfect view of the lagoon and some even have private swimming pools. The resort also have a fitness and leisure area which features a gym, fitness classes and jacuzzi.
The pool’s temperature was regulated I suppose, but it was a bit on the warm side for kids. The kiddie pool was apparently close when we were there so my son just entertained himself on the steps of the adult infinity pool which is about 4 feet deep. The life guards will let you wear anything you want as long as the material is not cotton.
The pristine beach is just a stroll away but I preferred to call the buggy driver for a quick ride to avoid getting toasted. We did not wade in the water because of the heat but it would have been really nice if we visited this resort in the winter. I guess, I will be coming back to explore the place more. The breakfast was superb, and there were restaurants and bar which offers Chinese, American and Mediterranean cuisines you can choose from.
The Rotana is located just a few minutes’ drive from Ras Al Khaimah Airport and 45 minutes from Dubai on the newly built Emirates Road. It is an enchanting place which is perfect for unwinding and relaxation. I had a great time and I will definitely come back and try that exclusive villa with a private pool. Over-all, the resort is impressive, the staff were helpful and the ambiance is breath taking, but I would say it did not come close to Plantation Bay resort in Cebu City, my all time favorite paradise 🙂
