Macaroni Cheese with Shrimp Recipe

macaroni cheese with shrimp   Comfort food once again my friends! Today I am sharing one of the many variations on how to make the all-time favorite comfort food, Macaroni Cheese! Mac and cheese always bring me down the memory lane, it has always been prepared in my home since I was a child. I am going to make my macaroni cheese with shrimp to add a little of flavor to the dish.

This is a no-bake macaroni cheese with shrimp recipe
Recipe type: Pasta
Serves: 6

  • 400 grams elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 200 grams of medium sized shrimps, shelled and deveined
  • 4 cloves of garlic, chop it really fine
  • 3 medium sized onions, finely chopped
  • 4 tbsp of butter
  • 2 tsp of fine salt
  • 1 tsp of ground pepper
  • 3 tbsp of cornstarch mixed in ½ cup of warm water
  • 2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch, mixed with ½ cup warm water
  • 1 tomato, sliced in small pieced
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ground nutmeg

  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the shrimps. and over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons butter. Add garlic, and cook until fragrant. Do not over cook or burn.
  3. Stir in the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion layers separate.
  4. Add the tomato pieces
  5. Add shrimp, 1 teaspoon salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly, simmer heat and cover. Cook for 10 to 15 minutes until the shrimp are orange and well cooked.
  6. Drain and keep aside the liquid.
  7. In another medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over low heat. Stir in cornstarch/water mixture, nutmeg, and remaining 1 teaspoon salt and then mix the milk
  8. Add the beaten egg.
  9. Cook and stir until mixture thickens slightly and bubbles. Remove from heat.
  10. Add the cheddar cheese slowly and keep on stirring until melted.
  11. Continue to stir until mixture is smooth.
  12. Combine the liquid that you set aside earlier from the shrimp and mix very well
  13. Put the cooked macaroni in a casserole, and pour the shrimp and milk sauce
  14. Serve hot with a garlic toast!.
