Pork with Pineapple and Broccoli : Stir Fry Recipe

pork with pineappleFor my first post, I chose one of my all time favorite pork recipe– pork with pineapple and broccoli. This is actually something that I always crave for and I use to prepare this recipe at least once a week for me and my family. Stir fry by definition means cooking quickly in very little oil and in extreme heat while stirring continuously. The technique is to cut the pork meat in really thin slices for it to cook fast inside out.

  • 3 lbs. pork, sliced into very thin pieces
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • 2 medium carrots, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cups broccoli, chopped in to small pieces
  • 1 (20 oz.) can pineapple chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pcs green chili, chopped into small pieces ( it depends on how spicy you want your dish to be)
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking Procedure

  1. Separate the juice from the pineapple chunks and set the chunks aside for later use.
  2. Combine the pineapple juice, pork, and 1 teaspoon salt. Mix and then marinate for 3 hours. The flavor will mix better if you marinate longer
  3. Heat oil in a wok
  4. When the oil becomes hot, add-in the ginger and then cook for 10 seconds.
  5. Add the garlic and onion. Cook until the onion becomes soft.
  6. Drain excess liquid from the marinated pork, and then put the pork in the wok. Stir fry for 3 minutes or until the color of the pork becomes light to medium brown.
  7. Add hoisin sauce, soy sauce, and oyster sauce. Stir.
  8. Put-in the pineapple chunk, chili, red bell pepper, carrots, and broccoli.
  9. Pour the pineapple juice on the wok, the quantity would depend on how saucy you want your recipe to be.
  10. Continue to stir-fry for 5 to 8 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  11. Transfer to a serving plate.
